AU Goes UA

American University has signed a partnership agreement for athletics apparel with Under Armour.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – American University and Under Armour, Inc. (NYSE: UA) have announced a new partnership agreement. The Baltimore-based global leader in performance footwear, apparel and equipment has become the official outfitter of American University Department of Athletics and Recreation.

As part of the multi-year agreement, Under Armour will provide on-field and training gear for the Eagles' 16 varsity sports. Additionally, Under Armour will outfit members of the athletic department, including coaches and staff.

"We're tremendously excited to partner with Under Armour to be the official outfitter of the American University Eagles," said director of athletics and recreation Dr. Billy Walker. "Everyone knows the quality of their products and the innovative mindset they possess, so we look forward to working closely to develop our partnership in support of our student-athletes."

Walker noted the department is also impressed with Under Armour's commitment to social responsibility, workplace diversity, sustainability, and alignment with international workplace code of conduct agreements.

"It was clear throughout the process that Under Armour shares many of the very same core values as American University," he said. "UA and AU are the perfect partners moving forward, and we're very happy to be underway."

"American University is a welcome addition to our roster of NCAA partners and we look forward to providing the most innovative performance gear for Eagles student-athletes, staff, alumni and fans," said Sean Sullivan, Under Armour Director of Collegiate Sports Marketing.

For their part, AU head coaches are looking forward to the many benefits the partnership brings to their programs.

"Our men's basketball program is extremely excited about the move," said men's basketball head coach Mike Brennan. "Most importantly, teaming up with Under Armour allows us to work with outstanding people who have considerable passion for our kids and their work."

"Our program is thrilled to be partnered with Under Armour," said women's basketball head coach Megan Gebbia. "We feel it's a natural fit for us being that their headquarters is in the MD/DC area. "Under Armour has a worldwide appeal and will service our team with the best, top quality performance gear," said volleyball coach Barry Goldberg.  "Our student-athletes and staff are honored to represent their brand as local friends, at national competitions and throughout the volleyball world."

The new official outfitter agreement includes marketing entitlement that will complement Under Armour's brand marketing campaigns through digital, print and venue presence at American.
