The American University swimming and diving team travelled to
Annapolis, Md., to take on Navy, Bucknell and Lafayette in a trio
of dual meets on Saturday afternoon. The women's squad finished 1-2
on the afternoon, while the men's team was 0-3.
On the women's side, AU's best result of the day came in the 400
free relay, where the Eagles took home the victory in the event.
American finished the race in 4:01.52, edging out Bucknell by just
over two seconds.
Individually, junior Dory
Isaacs led the Eagles with a second place finish in
the 100 breast (1:12.98) and fourth-place results in the 50 free
(27.27) and 100 free (1:00.10). Eleanor Clay also earned
second-place in the 200 breast (2:40.37) with sophomore Shelby
Legel finishing fourth in the event (2:45.81). Other
top results for the Eagles included a third-place finish for
sophomore Alexandra
Wessel in the 200 free (2:08.23) and fourth-place for
junior Jess
Ballance in the 100 fly (1:09.08).
In the men's competition, AU again had success in the 400 free
relay, finishing in second just behind event winner Bucknell.

Pelletier and freshman Michael
Greenberg made up the relay team, which came in with a
time of 3:38.61.
In the individual races, Ong led American with a second-place
result in 400 free (4:14.96) and a fifth-place finish in the 100
breast (1:07.84). Pelletier also performed well with three top five
finishes on the day. He recorded times of 58.90 in the 100 fly,
58.70 in the 100 back and 53.58 in 100 free to finish third, fourth
and fifth, respectively.
In the team competition, AU women's team defeated Lafayette,
160-137, but fell to Bucknell (203-94) and Navy (179-94). On the
men's side, the Eagles lost all three matchups to Bucknell
(229-60), Lafayette (162-130) and Navy (173-104).
The Eagles will be back in action from November 20-22 at the
George Mason Invitational in Fairfax, Va.
