WASHINGTON -
Both the men's and women's swimming and diving teams earned Academic All-America honors for the spring semester of 2007, the College Swimming Coaches Association of America announced Thursday.
To earn Academic All-America status, a team must have a cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher. In 24 semesters under Head Coach Mark Davin, the Eagles have never failed to meet the criteria. The women's team finished last semester with a 3.4 GPA and the men's team a 2.9. "We are very proud of the academic success both teams have achieved," Davin said. "They work very hard each year in the classroom and in the pool and earning this award justifies all their efforts."
The Eagles are currently in training for their upcoming seasons. On Sept. 29, the teams will host their annual Alumni Red/Blue exhibition meet. Their first competitive action comes Oct. 5, at the Potomac Relay Invitational.
