Junior Keira Carlstrom (Oakton, Va./Oakton) won the individual title and sophomore Kelley Taylor (Virginia Beach, Va./Kellam) finished third to help American University's women's cross country team to a second place finish Saturday at the Mount St. Mary's Duals.
Carlstrom finished the 5k course in 17:37.35, just 7/100ths of a second ahead of her previous personal best, set last year at the Maryland Invitational. Carlstrom bested her closest competitor, Meghan Braffer of Maryland, by nearly 42 seconds.
Meanwhile, Taylor captured third in 18:29.43. The Eagles' next finisher, Zaia Wharton (Elkins, W. Va./Elkins) finished 14th in 19:24.84. American's other scoring runners were senior Whitney McNees (Pennington, N.J./Hopewell Valley Central) in 20th with a 19:33.22 and freshman Juliette Lynch (Skaneateles, N.Y./Skaneateles), who finished 21st in 19:41.26 in her first collegiate competition.
Cathleen Ford (Cornwall-on-Hudson, N.Y./Cornwall Central) finished 36th, Kate Lilley (Portland, Ore./St. Mary's) 38th, Catie Poppe (Reston, Va./Bishop Ireton) 44th and Kaitlyn Lavender (Neptune, N.J./St. Rose) 49th as the other runners for the Eagles.
The meet was scored as dual meets among the five competitors: AU, Maryland, Mount St. Mary's, Navy and UMBC. The following are the Eagles' dual scores:

American finished second to Navy, who went 4-0 in its duals.
