WASHINGTON - The American University women's
cross country team returned to action on Saturday for the first
time in three weeks at the George Mason Invitational. The Eagles
placed 15th overall at the meet but were without their top-two
runners.
AU finished with a total time of 2:10.26 and an average time of
26:05.20. Junior Rachel Forcino was the
Eagles top finisher as she placed 37th in the 141 woman field.
Forcino finished the 6k course in a season-best time of 23:34. Also
competing for American on Saturday were Lauren Scholl (68th,
25:06), Melissa
Tabas (89th, 26:00), Haleigh Duggan (100th,
27:47) and Tara
Jakubik (102nd, 27:59). AU's top runners, Octavia Rinehardt
and Greta
Wicklund, did not compete in the race.
Both the AU men's and women's cross country teams will be in
action again in two weeks. On Saturday, Oct. 18, the teams will
split their squads and head to either the Delaware Invitational in
Newark, Del., or the Leopard Invitational in Easton, Pa.
