WASHINGTON — The highly-anticipated #AUGoesDownUnder trip for the American University men's basketball team will begin on Friday, Aug. 11, as the Eagles will embark on a 10-day, three-game tour of Australia. The Eagles will visit Cairns and Sydney during the trip.
The Eagles tip off international competition against the Cairns Taipans of the National Basketball League — Australia's premier professional basketball league — on Aug. 15th. The second game of the trip will be on Aug. 17 versus the Sydney Kings Invitational Team and the final contest is against the Sydney Comets on Aug. 19. All games will be played at 7:30 p.m. (Australia) / 5:30 a.m. (Eastern).
While in Cairns, the Eagles will have sightseeing opportunities such as snorkeling at the Great Barrier Reef and visiting the Kuranda Village Rainforest.
In Sydney, the team will travel through the Taronga Zoo, host a youth clinic, walk through the historic Sydney Opera House and compete in the Sydney Amazing Race.
