Todd West Interview

WASHINGTON
— American University men's soccer head coach Todd West has announced the 2017 schedule, which features a pair of NCAA Tournament qualifiers and nine home games at Reeves Field.

Last season, West guided the Eagles to a Patriot League regular season championship in 2016 and a spot in the league final.

American returns 16 players, including top rookie Max Holdsworth, who finished third in scoring with 15 points a season ago. Rising senior Joel Hart finished tied for third in goals with four.

The Eagles will play five non-league home games, highlighted with the season-opener against Georgetown on Aug. 25. The annual D.C. Capitol Cup will be played against Marist and Binghamton on Sept. 7 and 11, respectively. American will also host West Virginia on Sept. 19.

American will hit the road against George Mason in the Kuykenstrong D.C. College Cup on Aug. 27 and then head west to face Oregon State (Sept. 1) and Gonzaga (Sept. 3). The final non-league road tune-up for AU is at NCAA Quarterfinalist Albany on Sept. 15.

The Eagles will face Colgate in a rematch of the Patriot League Championship on Oct. 7 and then host Lehigh two weeks later during All-American Weekend. AU will conclude the home league schedule on Nov. 4 against Army.

The Patriot League Tournament begins on Nov. 8 with the quarterfinals. The semifinals and championship game are set for Nov. 10 and 12.

Fans and alumni can support the program by taking advantage of a specially priced season ticket offer through August 25th. Tickets for all nine home games at Reeves Field are just $25 for youth and $45 for adults, by calling the AU Athletics Ticket Office at (202) 885-TIXX (8499).
