The American University wrestling team and six of its wrestlers
have been featured in the WrestlingReport.com Preseason NCAA Team
and Individual Rankings. The Eagles as a team were ranked 16th out
of 30 while Jasen

Cannon, Steve Fittery, Bubby
Graham and Matt
Mariacher have all been ranked in their respective
weight classes.
American placed 28th at the 2009 NCAA Championships and sent
three qualifiers, two of which earned All-America status. The
Eagles also finished sixth at the EIWA Championships, eighth at the
Midlands Championships and third at the Keystone Classic. American
closed out its dual meet schedule with an 11-5 mark, the team's
best record since the 2005-06 season.
Cannon is ranked third at 184 lbs. after placing eighth at the
NCAA Championships a year ago. A two-time All-American, Cannon
finished the 2008-09 season with a 33-3 record. He also won both
the EIWA Championship and Midlands Championship, and his career
record of 92-16 places him fourth all-time at American.
After placing seventh at the NCAA Championships and earning
All-America status, K. Borshoff has been ranked fifth in the poll
at 149 lbs. He finished last year with a 33-7 record and placed
third at the EIWA Championship. His career record of 73-31 places
him 11th in program history.
Ranked 18th at 157 lbs., Fittery comes to American after posting
a 25-5 record during his 2007-08 season at Shippensburg. During
that same season he finished first in the Pennsylvania State
Athletic Conference and second at the NCAA Division II
Championships.
J. Borshoff is ranked 22nd at 125 lbs. after placing sixth at
the EIWA Championship at 133 lbs. He finished off the year with an
18-13 record.
Mariacher is ranked 27th in the poll at 141 lbs. after finishing
last season with an 18-11 overall record. He placed sixth at the
EIWA Championship and first at the Keystone Classic.
Graham, ranked 31st at 165 lbs., finished last season with an
overall record of 16-15 and an EIWA record of 6-8. Wrestling at 157
lbs. last season, Graham placed fourth at the Keystone Classic.
