WASHINGTON - After helping the American University field hockey team to back-to-back wins over the weekend and earning her second Patriot League Rookie of the Week nod, freshman Noor Coenen was selected for her first career GEICO AU Student-Athlete of the Week honor.
Coenen was among the highlights from the Eagles' exciting home opener, clinching the game-winning goal against PL foe Bucknell before blasting in a pair of rockets during the 4-1 win over Drexel on Sunday.
The Netherlands-native currently ranks second on the squad with 12 points in her debut season at AU, scoring five goals and adding another pair of assists after the first eight games.
Coenen is currently third in the league in total points, points per game (1.50) and goals per game (.625), and ranks fourth in total goals.
The Eagles will be back on the road on Friday with a 4 p.m. game at Lehigh before returning home on Sunday for a 1 p.m. start against Penn. For the latest on AU Field Hockey, stay tuned to AUEagles.com and follow the team on Twitter @AU_FieldHockey.
